Portside Crest is in Brookings Harbor, Oregon and located in a “banana belt,” with milder year-round temperatures and weather patterns. While overcast and chilly inland, Brookings can be sunny with beach temperatures well into the 70’s in fall and winter. When it’s a scorching 105 inland, Brookings may be in the high 60’s.
Portside Crest is located off of Lower Harbor Road, in the heart of the port area which offers recreation, shopping and dining venues. For beachcombers, four quintessentially “Oregon” beaches are within a 15-30 minute drive of Portside Crest: Pelican Beach State Park, Harris Beach, Lone Ranch Beach and Whaleshead Beach.
Deep Sea Fishing charter services based in the port along with private boat moorage offer anglers outstanding year-round ocean fishing options. In winter, whale watching from cliffs above the beach is a popular activity that draws visitors and volunteers for Whale-Watch Weeks. Along the Chetco River, fishing, rafting, kayaking and swimming abound. Hikers, birders and photographers will marvel at the photo-ops along the Pacific Crest Trail that meanders over miles of unspoiled oceanfront land. Upriver at Loeb State Park, more miles of lush, forested trails await. Some of the world’s most pristine redwood forests are less than an hour away in Redwood National Park and Jedediah Smith State Park. Only 3 1/2 miles up the Chetco River, Salmon Run Golf Course offers 18 exhilarating and challenging holes set amidst a picturesque, wooded wonderland.
